"The perils of being a young writer: my journey "

As a young writer, I have experienced the thrill of creating stories, poems and scripts that transport me to new words. But, it's not all fun and games— there are challenges that come with putting the otherworldly wonders from your mind, pen to paper. My hidden passion for writing was first discovered when I was 12. I used to write short stories as a pastime. My family would encourage me to write more. As I did, I faced shortage of inspirations as I had written about everything I could find from a rose bush in our garden to a tea bag. The biggest challenge for me is writing short stories. Whenever I try to keep a story brief, I always end up writing more than required.

My journey has had obstacles any other writer too would have faced. One of them, was my inner critic. Each time I would sit to write, I'd often think if my content was good enough to read, if it was too silly or if people would like to read it, but I would always say to myself that it doesn't matter if people read it or not, but it'll be my experience and a whole new lesson for improvement. I even faced situations in which I couldn't take out extra time dedicated for writing as I struggled to keep up with the heavy homework, and the timings of school and evening tuition. So, I'd sit at the back of the classroom with any small notebook or diary under the desk at all times, for whenever any idea struck my mind, I would be able to note it down to remember it. Another challenge was naming the characters. I always found it hard to decide names for my characters in the story so I usually end up using names which exist in real life. For example, the protagonist in my novel is a lemon beagle named Candy which, in real life, belongs to my aunt. Despite these challenges the outcome has been fruitful. One of my novels, "Candy:The Prophecy came true" is under progress at present. The hype for my soon to be published novel among my peers and family is unmeasurable. My teachers too have been supportive to me regarding my writing skill and helped me with the right vocabulary and proof reading.
